Words can't describe how much I think Robyn is the shit. She's amazing, she's swedish, she's R&B, pop, hip-hop, and electro. I'll admit right now that Robyn's current persona (which she took on when she created Konichiwa Records) is why she rivals and possibly surpasses Lady GaGa for my affection as a pop diva. I spent a good amount of time being aware that Rakamonie was the name of her EP; not really questioning what the hell it meant, at one point assuming it was just swedish. One of my favorite interviews of her to date gave me the answer: "It's a state of mind. It's the truth and the way it makes you feel inside that gives you a swagger and the confidence to call your own shot and be who you are." I totally got this girl when I read this. It's when you're at your best, dancing like no one's watching. When you wake up in the morning looking like P. Diddy. Whatever gets you up and going: I'm a BAMF. Conceit or confidence, take it or leave it. I'll do the Rakamonie with Robyn any day.Three songs today because I'm feeling legit.
"Handle Me" (RedOne Remix)"- Robyn
Robyn can take care of herself without a remix, but adding the producer of Lady GaGa makes this narcissistic pyscho-freaking boot-licking Robyn fanatic have some extra fun.

"A Change Of Heart (Rakamonie Remix)" - El Perro Del MarA somber side monologue or parenthesis to what is a smash hit single, "Dancing On My Own" (Blogged on Vertigo Shtick): to everywhere but my home Los Angeles the majority of the United States. To people who believe music is only merited by how "sooooo LA" something is, or if something is "cool; and therefore not cool," or "Indie is the only way to go"... Allow me to ask: won't you consider a change of heart? Do The Rakamonie with me.
The original is a somber, mellow and simplistic song. The sounds reflect a time and day when I didn't know you could make music faster with the click of a button. El Perro Del Mar's sound in this track has me yearning to rock back and forth to a chill bass line; and maybe even get my glasses fixed. Robyn pumps it up with electro synth violin, some of her own vocals, and beats in a heart broken manner only Robyn can do. Her first recorded and documented remix as a DJ/Producer outside her own.

"Sexual Eruption (Fyre Department Remix)" Snoop Dogg feat. RobynAnyone who remembers the censored version of the hit "Sensual Seduction" will appreciate this remix, with Robyn's feminine talk-back as she takes on both men at once. Either way, Robyn can sex you up all by herself. There's a reason why she's been making hits since 1997, and continues to do so. The fact that she can roll with the boys, and handle herself while letting her adorable Swedish-accented lisp come out (See: "Sexual Ewuption.") Can I please Gaga claw out this new "fwend" and my ex-homeboy who break her heart, please?
Lastly, AllHeartsTour is coming to Los Angeles July 23rd at the Music Box. I'm there. Who's coming with me?
